Q: What is the Barre Basics and Modifications Workshop?
A: I will begin the class with a 15-minute discussion about general modifications to make sure I am aware of any specific injuries/issues the clients have. Then I will teach a 45-minute Beginner B.Barre Fit class with hands-on corrections and specific instruction on modifications.
Q: When is the class?
A: This Sunday, April 15th at 3:00 at our Chenoweth Square location! There are still spots open. Remember it is a FREE class, so feel free to bring a friend or family member!
Q: Why did you want to teach this class?
A: I have degrees in both Exercise Science and Physical Therapy. So, I’m passionate about teaching others to exercise safely. One of the many things I love about B YOU is our neutral spine focus. Proper posture and form are key to getting the most benefit from our methods.
Q: What does “modification” really mean?
A: The actual definition of “modify” is “to make minor changes to something, so as to improve it or make it less extreme.” So, for our classes, that means by making small changes to exercises we can make it appropriate for each client’s specific needs.
Q: Why modify?
A: It’s important to listen to your body in order to avoid pain or injuries. Our goal at B YOU is to teach exercises that can be adapted to work safely for anyone! This is what makes our classes appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. We encourage modifications!
Q: Isn’t working out supposed to hurt?
A: No. There are several types of pain. The only pain you actually want from working out is that good muscle soreness after the workout. Joint or nerve pain should always be avoided.
Q: Are these modifications just for Barre classes?
A: No. The modifications we will discuss can be used in all of our classes at B YOU— Barre, Barre Cardio, Bounce, & Silque.
Q: Who can benefit from this workshop?
A: EVERYONE! Everyone can learn something from this workshop, whether or not you have an injury or physical issue. Sometimes just being tired or sore can be reason enough to modify.
